You move the handle once left once right, like pedaling only cut in half, never a full circle. Each time you hit two drums at once. Two when you are up and two more when you are down. It makes this little silly jingle, like a dollar store bell on a dentist rubber glove. That is called a lot of labour efficiency for nothing, anti-climactic. But it works and it is a 4x4 drum.
